Because half of my family tree emigrated from Scotland to Nova Scotia in the late 19th century, I have a soft spot in my heart for Scotland. I’ve toured the land of my forbearers twice by both car and train–my next visit will be by caravan.
During my research, I’ve come across a very informative article published in the Glasgow, Scotland, Daily Record: ”Room to Explore — Whether You’re Camping, Taking To The Road In A Motorhome Or Using A Caravan, You Can Do It In Comfort … And Celebs Say It’s Cool.”
Andy McCluskey, of Open Road Scotland, said: “Motorhomes are like a home from home really and are ideal for family groups because they are so cost-effective and flexible, and do not tie you down to expensive hotel or B&B accommodation.”
The article mentions a number of camping and caravanning resources including: Scottish Camping, a directory of all the campsites / caravan parks in Scotland.
RV rentals sites include: For nostalgic VWs (Highland Classic Campers, Escape Campers, Scooby Campers); small modern vans, (Kira Rentals) and larger American-style vehicles (Freedom of Scotland).
