An impulse purchase led Rhonda and her husband Mark into the vintage travel trailer hobby. While looking at an Auto Trader one day, they spied a 1956 Benroy teardrop trailer for sale in a neighboring community. Thinking it would be “cute” behind their 1958 Nash Metropolitan, they went out and took a look. They were hooked and bought the trailer on the spot.
Their first trailer gathering was the Tin Can Tourists Annual Gathering held at Camp Dearborn, Milford, Michigan. What a wonderful experience! But, getting to look into all those lovely trailers during the open house completely infected them with the trailer bug. They decided it was time to get something a little larger, so the kids could stay in the trailer with them (as well as the dogs).
A missed eBay auction, and Rhonda’s subsequent whining on an online forum, led another local owner to contact Rhonda about the 1948 United Sports-Tour they were selling. After looking at the trailer, it, too, was coming home. While it needed exterior work, the interior was all original and in good condition. A 1961 Safari also hung out with them for a while, but it eventually found a new home with happy owners. What is the next trailer going to be? Your guess is as good as mine, but you can bet there will be another one calling their name.
Rhonda and Mark combined their passions for classic cars and vintage travel trailers with their sense of fun and love of funky slippers and created Vroomers! LLC, designing and selling car and trailer inspired slippers. Rhonda is also President of Keychain Collectors International, and Past President of the Metropolitan Owner’s Club of North America. She is also a 4 time Golden Quill Award winner through Old Cars Weekly for her newsletter editor efforts for the Mitten Mets, a Michigan based car club devoted to the Nash Metropolitan automobile.
Rhonda and Mark have 4 sons, Christopher, Jonathan, Tyler and Logan as well as 2 dogs, Misha and Tucker. If you see them at the campgrounds, stop and say hello. They’ll be the ones wearing unique slippers!
