“Greetings from..
Hi, Lisa here. WOW! What an incredible weekend. Spent 2 days on the beach of Pismo Beach, California with 164 other vintage trailer enthusiasts. Image anything from tiny teardrops to the spectacular Spartans. Definitely a feast for the eyes.
I had left at 3 PM on Friday, May 16th. I had left late into the afternoon because I really wanted to have this website up (even though not completely full) for this event. Yes, not the best move since I hit traffic but since I wasn’t pulling a trailer, due to tow vehicle “issues”, I thought I’d make good time. Well that didn’t quite work as I got there just after sunset.
I promptly met, for the first time in person, Paige Bridges who had graciously put me and Wendy Nelson up for the night. Wendy had driven 4 hours to meet Paige as well and is a collector of over 20 (scaled down from over 30) vintage trailers.
Paige does vintage trailer art and has been featured in the Current catalog as well as had her images on Coasterstones. She and her husband David, along with Ric and Julie Pharer (representing Colorado Parkinson Foundation) had met up in New Mexico. Paige and David had come all the way from Texas just to come to this rally and it was an honor and privilege to meet them.
Saturday morning started with a hosted breakfast with most of the rally attendees coming. Good food, good friends, great atmosphere with a vintage feel right on the beach with beautiful weather. What more could you ask for?
I spent most of the day in a “press” capacity interviewing people for upcoming stories, taking video on my Flip NetCam (that little thing is really great) which is MySpace and YouTube compatible, and also shooting pictures to share with you here. You will be seeing video here soon of rally events and other special topics of interest as well.
I got a chance to share Saturday night before the evening movie started about the e-magazine and how it had just launched Friday. I happened to be wearing the teardrop shaped slippers that are featured on www.avrvparkinsonspackage.com . Though I was alloted 5 minutes to speak, I barely got to 1 minute before I got choked up and had to “wrap it up” so I didn’t “lose it” in front of everyone. Anyway, I was greatly touched by the moment and appreciated the support.
So, I’m back to working on the e-mag. and hoping to meet you at a rally soon. Next up, Wrightwood, California!
…wishing you were here!”
